CSW69 Advocacy Training for the MENA Region: Enhancing Knowledge and Implementation of CSW Processes

The Asfari Institute for Civil Society and Citizenship at the American University of Beirut is hosting an Advocacy Training for the Middle East and North Africa (MENA) Region to enhance knowledge and support the effective implementation of the Commission on the Status of Women (CSW) processes. This training aims to empower gender equality advocates with the skills and tools to better engage in advocacy, understand UN processes, and drive the implementation of CSW recommendations in their home countries. The training will be delivered by Houry Geudelekian and Senamile Madlala.

Training Overview

This session will provide a deeper understanding of the CSW and its role in advancing gender equality globally. Participants will gain essential advocacy skills and insights into how to influence policy and social change, particularly in the MENA context and in the 69th session of the Commission on the Status of Women. The training will also focus on bridging the gap between the CSW processes and local implementation of gender equality agendas.

  2. NGO Committee on the Status of Women: The hybrid Civil Society Forum that NGO CSW/NY organizes for global advocates.
  3. Advocacy Techniques for MENA: Effective strategies for lobbying, campaign management, and engaging with stakeholders in the MENA region.
  4. Intersectionality: Advocating for inclusive and effective policies within the CSW and UN frameworks.
  5. Implementation Mechanisms: Practical tools for applying CSW resolutions locally and nationally.
