Abstract
This report assesses the state of gender-transformative education (GTE) in the SWANA region, highlighting persistent barriers such as gender norms, conflict, and limited access for marginalized groups. Based on consultations with over 100 stakeholders, it identifies key challenges and offers practical recommendations on safe access, curricula, and teacher training. The report calls for context-specific reforms to advance gender equality in education and informs a regional declaration for the United Nations Girls’ Education Initiative’s (UNGEI) Feminist Network for Gender-Transformative Education (FemNet4GTE).
