The American University of Beirut (AUB)’s Good Governance and Citizenship Observatory (GGCO) at the Asfari Institute for Civil Society and Citizenship signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Fouad Chehab Foundation (FCF) on August 12, 2024.
This MoU establishes a framework for collaboration between GGCO and FCF. The agreement aims to facilitate joint activities and projects focused on topics including, but not limited to, institution-building the development of public institutions, and the sharing of knowledge through conferences, seminars, and other events. Any specific areas of collaboration, activities, and projects will be pursued upon mutual agreement and will be detailed in additional addenda or separate agreements, outlining schedules, personnel involvement, and financial arrangements.
The signing ceremony was attended by key figures, including Adel Hamiyeh, FCF president and former minister; Lina Abou Habib, director of the Asfari Institute at AUB; and Dr. Simon Kachar, GGCO founding director. Additional attendees included members of the Fouad Chehab Foundation, members of the GGCO Steering Committee, and colleagues from both the Asfari Institute and GGCO.
The MoU was initially signed by AUB Provost Dr. Zaher Dawy, and later during the event by FCF President Adel Hamiyeh and Director of the Asfari Institute at AUB Lina Abou-Habib.
