The Sexuality, Gender, and Rights Institute (SGRI) Arabic is a regional residential academic programme that brings together activists, researchers, practitioners, and civil society actors working at the intersections of sexuality, gender, and human rights across the MENA/SWANA region.
Adapted from CREA’s globally recognized SGRI model and developed in collaboration with CREA, the Asfari Institute for Civil Society & Citizenship at the American University of Beirut hosts the Arabic edition.
Through an intensive, participatory, and interdisciplinary approach, SGRI Arabic creates a space for critical learning, reflection, and exchange on issues related to sexuality, gender, rights, power, and social justice. The Institute combines conceptual and theoretical perspectives with regionally grounded experiences and case studies, encouraging participants to connect theory with their advocacy, research, and practice.
SGRI Arabic also provides a space for participants to engage with diverse perspectives, strengthen connections across movements and sectors, and critically examine emerging challenges affecting gender, sexuality, and human rights in the region.
