Feminist foreign policy (FFP) has emerged as a significant framework globally, aiming to prioritize gender equality and tackle intersectional discrimination in foreign affairs, development cooperation, and international relations. It focuses on integrating gender considerations across various domains, including womenโs rights, conflict resolution, economic empowerment, and sexual and reproductive health. Despite support from feminist movements and civil society, FFP faces scrutiny regarding its alignment with broader foreign policy agendas.
The Asfari Institute for Civil Society and Citizenship has been actively engaged in advancing FFP through a series of dialogues with foreign services, civil society actors, and international organizations. Through networking sessions, policy dialogues, and collaborative events, the Institute has facilitated platforms for sharing experiences from countries like Mexico, Sweden, and Chile as well as exploring the design, implementation strategies, and impact of FFP.
These initiatives aim not only to promote feminist diplomacy but also to generate policy recommendations that strengthen and advance FFP on a global scale.
