Care Work

The Asfari Institute for Civil Society and Citizenship addresses care work through research and advocacy. It investigates the dynamics and challenges related to care work in the MENA region, focusing on issues such as gender inequalities and labor conditions. The Institute collaborates with local and international organizations, organizing events, seminars, and workshops to promote dialogue and knowledge-sharing. These efforts aim to highlight the importance of care work, improve working conditions, and advance policies that support care workers and their communities.

MENA Working Group on Care

The MENA Working Group on Care aims to bring together representatives from government, NGOs, academia, and civil society to advance the care agenda through online and in-person discussions. This initiative is part of the Global Alliance for Care (GAC), led by the Government of Mexico and UN Women, emerging from the Generation Equality Forum. GAC aims to recognize, reduce, and redistribute care work, ensure fair remuneration, and transform gender roles to promote gender equality and economic recovery post-COVID-19.
