Project Description
The Supporting Arab Women at the Table (SAWT) Regional Fellowship addresses the shortcomings in negotiating inclusive visions for peace and security in Libya, Yemen, Syria, Palestine, and Iraq. Aligned with international frameworks like UN Security Council Resolution 1325, the project amplifies the voices of emerging women leaders and grassroots activists. By building their capacities, facilitating knowledge-sharing platforms, and addressing institutional barriers, SAWT aims to enhance women’s meaningful participation in peace processes.
The fellowship focuses on creating cross-regional, intergenerational, and cross-sectorial exchanges to foster collective action planning and shared learning. Funded by the European Union, the project is led by the Arab Reform Initiative and implemented through a consortium of partners, including the American University of Beirut, Together We Build It, the Sana’a Center for Strategic Studies, the Culture and Free Thought Association, and the Iraqi Al-Amal Association.
