Rethinking Citizenship Education in the Arab Region

Project Description

This project addresses complex challenges in governance, citizenship, and civic education in the Arab world through four main pillars. The research pillar examines citizenship issues related to governance, education, constitutions, and refugeehood. The education pillar aims to enhance academic programs at the American University of Beirut (AUB) by integrating citizenship education. The capacity-building pillar offers workshops and a certificate program to promote continuous learning and civic engagement. The final pillar focuses on dissemination through an annual conference and media outreach. Housed under the Asfari Institute’s Good Governance and Citizenship Observatory, the project seeks to foster a more informed and engaged citizenry in the region.
