The Good Governance & Citizenship Observatory
Established in 2023 at the American University of Beirut, GGCO is a regional initiative that explores and disseminates knowledge on citizenship and its intersection with governance, migration, and constitutions, fostering active and responsible citizenship for a more inclusive society.
Midan Knowledge Hub
Midan is a knowledge hub for civil society, researchers, and activists in the MENA/SWANA region. It helps users access and share locally-produced knowledge, fosters collaboration through discussion forms and events, and allows users to join discussions, upload, and search for various publications and multimedia resources.
MENA Working Group on Care
The Asfari Institute for Civil Society and Citizenship at AUB established a Working Group on Care in the MENA region. This group brings together government, NGOs, academia, and civil society representatives to advance the care agenda through online and in-person discussions. This initiative is part of the Global Alliance for Care (GAC), led by the Government of Mexico and UN Women, emerging from the Generation Equality Forum. GAC aims to recognize, reduce, and redistribute care work, ensure fair remuneration, and transform gender roles to promote gender equality and economic recovery post-COVID-19.
MENA Gender Clinic
The MENA Gender Clinic is a collaborative initiative between the Right Livelihood and the Asfari Institute for Civil Society and Citizenship at the American University of Beirut. This initiative represents a major step forward in fostering the production of gender knowledge and learning, undertaking relevant gender research, influencing gender-inclusive public policies, and amplifying gender advocacy in the MENA region. This initiative addresses the mandate of the Asfari Institute, namely bridging academia and activism.
